Perspective: Artist. The position of individual artists in the performing arts in Flanders
Since the early 1990s, international recognition has made Flanders and Brussels into an interesting hotspot for performing artists worldwide. Still, the position of theatre and dance makers is becoming more precarious.
In order to survive in the performing arts jungle, they are forced to profile themselves as networkers and entrepreneurs. In recent years, the research of VTi, the Institute for the Performing Arts in Flanders, has strongly focused on the position of artists in this changing landscape. ‘Perspective: Artist’ compiles the most interesting results of this research.
