Painting in Flanders after 1980

In the early 1980s three movements emerged in the United States and Europe: Neo-expressionism in the US, Neue Wilde in Germany and Transvanguardia in Italy. The Flemish painters did not so much tend in one of these directions but each tried to find their own direction.
