Curatorenprogramma Branka Benčić
Van 13 tot 20 september komt onafhankelijk curator Branka Benčić naar België. Ze wordt door Kunstenpunt uitgenodigd op initiatief van Jelena Jureša (AUGent/KASK) en Dušica Dražić (Out Of Sight).
Op 15 september zal Branka Benčić een lezing geven in het kader van de tentoonstelling ‘Song’ van Jelena Jureša bij Out Of Sight in Antwerpen. Tijdens haar verblijf zal de curator onderzoek doen in het audiovisueel archief van Argos en kunstenaars ontmoeten, rond de thema’s ‘oblivion and trauma, post-conceptual practice, institutional critique, abstraction, relation between subjects and objects, mechanisms of display and exhibiting’.
Over Branka Benčić
Branka Benčić is an independent curator with basic research, writing and curatorial interests in contemporary art, exhibiting film and video, experimental cinema, exhibition histories and curatorial practices and trajectories of critical and avantgarde practices in former Yugoslavia and Eastern Europe.
She was the curator of the Croatian Pavillion, 57th Venice Biennale (2017), The Horizon of Expectations, and curatorial advisor/ co-curator of Cloud Pergola – Architecture of Hospitality, Croatian Pavilion, 16th Architecture Biennale, Venice (2018).
In 2017 in collaboration with KM – Kunstlerhaus Graz she has co-curated international travelling conference: Trigon – recapitulations and perspectives (Zagreb, Trieste, Graz, 2017) and lectured about legacy of 3-country biennial Trigon (Austria 1963-1991).
She is curating Artist cinema screening program series at Museum of contemporary art Zagreb (2012 -), she is founder and curator at Cinemaniac / Think Film, support programme at the Pula Film Festival, exhibiting artist film and video, established in 2002, and is artistic director and curator at Apoteka – space of contemporary art Vodnjan (2013 – ).
She has curated group exhibitions, artists solo projects and film screenings in Croatia and internationally, lectured and discussed contemporary art practices and exhibiting film and video (Tate Modern, London, KM Kunstlerhaus Haller fur Kunst und Medien Graz, Residency Unlimited New York, Fondazione Zimei Pescara, FM Center for Contemporary Art Milano). Benčić lives and works in Zagreb.
