Bâtard Festival: focus on emerging artists
One of Flanders Arts Institute’s core activities is supporting the internationalisation of the arts. We do so by working together with various festivals and organisations, establishing contact between programmers and producers from abroad with local companies and artists through international visitors’ programmes. In 2017, one of those festivals is Bâtard, an annual event focusing on emerging artists, showing lesser-known work with an international potential.
Flanders Arts Institute and Bâtard festival organise a visitors’ programme for performing-arts programmers during the 14th edition of Bâtard.
Approximately 40 programmers will join, eight of which are ‘special guests’ who have been invited by Flanders Arts Institute.
Bâtard is a yearly festival in Brussels, presenting works by a new generation of international, talented artists. It takes place from 31 October until 4 November 2017 in and around the Beursschouwburg in Brussels. The festival brings together artists working in performance, theatre, dance and film. Each year the artistic team invites ten to fifteen different artist (collectives) from around Europe. Ogutu Muraya, Oneka Von Schrader, Ruben Desiere, Linda Blomqvist, Oliver Zahn are part of this year’s programme.
Bâtard is an artist-run festival. The artistic team consists of artists who have presented their work on previous editions of the festival. The 2017 team are Louis Vanhaverbeke, Bryana Fritz, Hannes Dereere, Hana Miletic, Anne Breure, Michiel Vandevelde and Dries Douibi.
