– Funding and cooperation
- The Portuguese Arts Council – Direcção Geral das Artes’ (DGARTES): its main goal is to promote artistic activity, by supporting artists and their projects. It collects and makes available information on Portuguese-speaking artists and aims to disseminate a proper knowledge of their works, both in Portugal and abroad.
- GDA Fundaçao: The mission of the GDA Foundation is to honour and dignify the work and careers of performers – actors, dancers and musicians – and to support their human, cultural and social development. The GDA Foundation is a non-governmental entity governed by private law, based in Lisbon. It was created by GDA – Gestão dos Direitos dos Artistas (Performers’ Rights Management), a non-profit collective management organization created by and for performers, featured and non-featured, including actors, dancers and musicians.
– Information
- Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language, I.P.: Instituto Camões’ main goals are the promotion and dissemination of Portuguese language and culture. It is a EUNIC Member.
- Gulbenkian Foundation – Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian: its statutory goals concern education, science, charity and arts. Its base inLisboa houses several auditoriums, galleries for temporary exhibitions, the Gulbenkian Museum, an Art Library and a Centre for Modern Art (including a second museum).
- Culturgest – Fundação Caixa Geral de Depósitos: situated at the Caixa Geral de Depósitos head-office building in Lisbon, is dedicated to contemporary creation. Culturgest presents a regular programme of Performing Arts, Music, Visual Arts, Cinema and Contemporary Thought.
- Acesso Cultural / Access Culture: Non-profit association of culture professionals and people interested in accessibility issues, based in Almada, Portugal. See also the Country Profile: Portugal realised for Disability Arts International.

- Information overview via On The Move’s country page: On the Move is the cultural mobility information network, providing information and knowledge for artists and cultural professionals active across borders. - Mobility Info Point: Polo Cultural Gaivotas Boavista is the mobility information point run by the city of Lisbon. It provides information on administrative matters such as visa, work permits, taxation and more.

- Centro Nacional de Cultura (CNC): founded in 1945 as a meeting point for exchange and dialogue between the different political and ideological sectors of society, in defence of a free and multi-disciplinary culture. It strives to be a bridge between old and young, artists and businessmen, public and private sectors. It pursues these objectives through publications, multimedia publications, exhibitions, courses, seminars and study trips. It also promotes artistic and literary prizes and awards grants to young artists.
- Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores (SPA -Portuguese Society of Authors): a limited liability cooperative, established in 1925 to Manage Author’s Rights. It is the sole entity of its kind in Portugal, representing more than 20,000 Portuguese authors and authors from about 200 sister societies spread throughout 90 foreign countries. It represents authors from all literary and artistic areas (music, audiovisual, dance, plastic arts, cinema,etc.).
- Aportfest: an association that aims to contribute to the development and professionalisation of music festivals in Portugal. It promotes contacts between its members, provides information, encourages education and research, and strategically supports everyone interested in music festivals. It is a representative organisation in Portugal that makes an important contribution to the development of the industry.

– Visual arts
- ProcurArte: a cultural association based in Lisbon. Since 2005 it works for the development and dissemination of creative industries, through the creation of critical and constructive projects in the fields of arts, culture, creativity and innovation. It runs Parallel, the European photo based platform.
- Braga Creative City for Media Arts: Braga is a UNESCO Creative City in the field of Media Arts. Since 2017 we are part of a wider network of 246 cities that put creativity at the heart of their social, cultural and economic development. Through its website, Braga covers many opportunities for (new) media artists in Portugal and abroad.
- Ci.CLO: a platform for artistic research, production and intervention in the medium of photography. Ci.CLO is responsible for the organization, production and curatorship of the Bienal Fotografia do Porto, as well as the projects Sustentar and ViViFiCAR.
- Centro Cultural de Belém – CCB: This houses four different galleries for visual art and a Museum of Design devoted to contemporary art.
– Performing arts
- Performing Arts Platform: an independent platform for Dance, Music and Theatre which aims to boost the promotion of Portuguese artists abroad whilst strengthening the connections with international programmers and culture professionals.
- Plateia: founded in 2004 and today brings together about 100 independent structures and 300 professionals in the areas of theatre and dance, from all over the country. PLATEIA asserts itself as a platform for discussion and intervention on cultural policies, especially for the performing arts, at local, regional, national and European levels.
- PERFORMART – Associação para as Artes Performativas em Portugal: The association’s main objectives are: to divulge the manifold forms of cultural and artistic expression in the field of performing arts; to bring its members into contact with other associations, both in Portugal and abroad; to take joint stances regarding matters that are relevant to the field of performing arts and its professionals; to create networks that will allow the sharing of knowledge in various areas. It is a member of PEARLE*.
- Rede Dança REDE – Association of Structures for Contemporary Dance: a network organisation, which represents and defends the interests of the Portuguese contemporary dance community.
- IETM Mapping: At the occasion of its 2018 plenary meeting in Oporto, IETM produced a mapping of the Portuguese performing arts scene, which can be very useful to understand the national context.
– Music
- WHY Portugal: Portugal’s export office for music, founded in 2016 by AMAEI and working on behalf of all Portuguese music sectors. WHY Portugal is a member of EMEE – European Music Exporters Exchange, and a member of ETEP – European Talent Exchange Platform.
- Cultural Non-Profit Association Miso Music Portugal: recognized as a Public Utility Institution, is a centre for creation, development and promotion of contemporary music. Its mission is to encourage the national and international circulation of ideas and values, as well as new music creations and performances, which stimulate and promote the art created here and now.
- Binaural Nodar: a contemporary cultural project operating since 2004 in the Portuguese region of Viseu Dão Lafões in the areas of soundscapes, sound and media arts, audiovisual ethnographic documentation, sound education, radio art and publications. It runs residency and takes part in many international projects on sound arts, bringing a rural perspective in sound arts and social research.
