Let me be your guide: Photography in Flanders

In this text, Stefan Vanthuyne gives an overview of the main developments in Flemish photography, and a state of affairs of the sector today (anno 2022). Vanthuyne charts, more than ever, a broad and dynamic sector.

In 1999, writer, curator and photo critic Erik Eelbode already published two essays on the state of photography in Flanders. Together with a reworked argument from 2005 in which he updates the framework and outlines of the previous ones, this material forms the historical context from which this field sketch starts.
