Leading women composers in Flanders

Flanders is rich in composers, but how many female composers do you know? Since the beginning of our music history we find composing women, but they are mostly underrepresented in the historiography.
 
With this booklet, we want to give composers of then and now the necessary attention and interpret their position in the musical landscape. On the basis of several well-known and lesser-known composers, the text explores what it meant to compose as a woman in Flanders. The text wants to bring some composers out of oblivion and into the spotlight, and encourage everyone to further discover their work.
