Flanders Arts Institute seeks job students to transcribe interviews, podcasts, focus and panel discussions
Are you a student? Do you want to get to know the arts field well? Are you good with text? And do you know how to take the conversational language out of a transcription until a readable text remains? Then we are looking for you!
Flanders Arts Institute is the support centre for the visual arts, the performing arts and classical music in Flanders. We help the arts field move forward in many ways: info and advice, research and development, international promotion, sector meetings,…
To do our job well, we need to know the sector well. One way we do this is by talking to the right people. Interviews, panel discussions, podcasts and so on. Because some people prefer reading to listening, we cast them in texts.
To this end, we are putting together a small group of students who are eager to roll up their sleeves and produce readable transcriptions, while also getting to know the arts sector.
What do you do?
You are part of a group of people who make transcriptions for us. Assignments come with regularity. Each time, we review who is available for which assignment.
What does such an assignment look like? Flanders Arts Institute makes automatic transcriptions of podcasts, interviews and public talks. You turn them into readable texts that stay close to what was originally said.
These texts end up on our website and are promoted via social media. You will contribute very concretely to informing our sector, and through your work you will learn a lot about it.
How is it to work for us?
Flanders Arts Institute is located in a lively landscape office, but work from home is also possible. We think in terms of results, not hours spent in the office.
The offices are located in the Ravenstein Gallery in Brussels, close to Brussels Central Station. There are eateries, sandwich shops, fitness clubs and a park nearby.
People at Flanders Arts Institute work from a great love of the arts, which they love to share with others. Tips for concerts, performances and exhibitions are constantly exchanged. The team welcomes people who bring in new perspectives. Together, we commit to becoming increasingly diverse and inclusive. This is a never-ending learning journey that we are fully committed to.
Working at Flanders Arts Institute means you get great autonomy if you want it, but also all the support and input you need. Colleagues are there for each other and also for you.
Physical accessibility
Our entrance is in the Ravenstein Gallery rotunda on the ground floor. You can reach us barrier-free (except for a small step of 3 cm) from the train platforms via the lifts of the station building and in the Ravenstein Gallery (standard door and lift width). Our sanitary facilities are currently not wheelchair accessible. Until that is corrected, we have arrangements with a nearby organisation for use of their sanitary facilities.
