Classic Connections 2018
From 27 until 29 January 2018, three classical music events will take place in Belgium, all in one weekend – Klara in deSingel in Antwerp, Bozar NOB on Sundays and Propulse in Brussels.
Following the first edition in January 2017, Flanders Arts Institute together with Wallonie-Bruxelles Musiques will be organising an international visitors’ programme for classical music professionals.
This visitors’ programme is an initiative of Kunstenpunt / Flanders Arts Institute and Wallonie-Bruxelles Musiques in cooperation with Klara, deSingel, Bozar, ProPulse and Flagey.
Programme
Saturday 27: Klara in deSingel, a multidisciplinary festival, taking place in the magnificent buildings of deSingel in Antwerp, will present classical music in all of its forms: from baroque to contemporary, jazz, world music and musical theatre. And here and there a touch of poetry and interesting discussions.
Present ensembles, soloists and orchestras include: Brussels Philharmonic, Reinoud Van Mechelen & A Nocte Temporis, Queen Elisabeth Competition Winner Victor Julien-Laferrière and many more. Concerts start at noon.
Sunday 28:
- 10:30 – SUPERNOVA Showcase : 6 young and talented chamber music ensembles will present themselves
- 13:00 – Networking lunch at Flanders Arts Institute in the Ravenstein Galleries. An opportunity to meet classical music professionals from all over Belgium.
- 15:00 – National Orchestra of Belgium at Bozar,
Join us on Sunday evening for an informal dinner to find out more about the ‘Preparatory Action: Music Moves Europe’, recently approved by the European Parliament.
Monday 29: Propulse in Flagey Theatre, Brussels. ProPulse is a yearly multidisciplinary promotional showcase that presents outstanding artists from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. ProPulse Classique is exclusively reserved for professionals and programmers of classical music.
The classical music programme is composed of : Anne Niepold & le Quatuor Alfama, Florian Noack, Akhtamar String Quartet, Camille Seghers et Alexis Thibaut de Maisières, Ensemble Fractales, and more.
Concerts start at 10 am and finish at 6 pm. A lunch networking event is included in the day’s activities.
