Multi-year cooperation & exchange programme between Belgium, NRW & the Netherlands

TRANSFER INTERNATIONAL is an international and interdisciplinary exchange programme originated by the German NRW KULTURsekretariat in partnership with Dutch Performing Arts (NL), Flanders Arts Institute (BE) and Federation Wallonia-Brussels (BE).

This multi-year cooperation programme wants to support artists and projects and promote dialogue and collaboration between artists, creative people and institutions from The Netherlands, Belgium and the region of North Rhein Westfalen.

TRANSFER INTERNATIONAL gives rise to thematically focused international collaborations and cooperation programmes in intensive dialogue with the relevant institutions of the participating countries or regions.

In 2016-2017 Transfer International focuses on the topics of digital culture and cultural diversity.

Programme

Visitors’ programmes and expert meetings in several cities are planned in the Netherlands (March 2017), NRW (November 2017) and Flanders and Wallonia (November 2017).

NRW Germany – 9 to 12 November 2017

During the Next level – Festival for Games in Düsseldorf, visits are planned to Cologne (visit of the exhibition “IM SPIELRAUSCH. Von Königinnen, Pixelmonstern und Drachentötern”, Museum of Applied Arts Cologne – MAKK) and to Aachen (visit of the exhibition “Digital Games. Art and Computer Games”, Ludwig Forum Aachen), concert/installation by artist Rochus Aust and his electrophonic orchestra at Heinrich-Heine-Institut in Düsseldorf, award ceremony and reception “Künstlerinnenpreis NRW” – category “Game Design” at NRW-Forum Düsseldorf, party “Level Up, Girls and Boys” at NRW-Forum Düsseldorf, visit of Next Level Festival 2017 (including meetings with artists/organizers/participants), dance performance “How do you fear?” by Fabien Prioville Dance Company at Tanzhaus NRW.

Participants: Bram Michielsen, game designer, curator and co-founder of The House of Indie, and Youri Loedts, writer, consultant and digital storyteller.

The Netherlands – March 2017

Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam organises the visitors’ programme digital culture and invites Kurt d’Haeseleer (Werktank), Ischa Tallieu (Tallieu Art Office), Ilja Van Autreve (KOPERGIETERY Medialab) for visits to Rotterdam (V2_Institute, Showroom MAMA, Witte de With a.o.) and STRP festival Eindhoven.

Other participants: Yves Bernard (iMAL), Philippe Franck (Transcultures) and Marie du Chastel (KIKK festival) from the Federation Wallonie-Bruxelles and Prof. Heide Hagebölling-Eisenbeis (prof. emeritus KHM), Jasmin Vogel (Dortmunder U-Center for Arts and Creativity), Tasja Langenbach (Videonale), Martin Maruschka (project manager Next Level-Festival for Games) and Mischa Kuball (artist) from Nordrhein-Westfalen.

Transfer International is an initiative of NRW KULTURSEKRETARIAT (Wuppertal).
