Ménage à trois – part V: meeting the Limburg visual arts scene
Ménage à trois is an annual programme for the Flemish, Brussels and Walloon visual arts scenes to get to know each other better on both sides of the linguistic border. The programme aims to create space for encounters between artists and arts professionals in Wallonia, Brussels and Flanders.
This fifth edition brought together artists and art professionals from Brussels and Wallonia to Genk and Hasselt to meet the Limburg visual arts scene.
During this day, we explored how organizations outside major urban centers support artists in their artistic development and internationalization. Does the “peripheral” location affect the nature of their work? How do local art scenes connect on a national and international level? How do they create a dynamic ecosystem and promote international collaboration?
Speakers from Brussels and Wallonia who contributed to the discussions: Dorothée Duvivier (BPS22 in Charleroi), Laurent Jacob (Espace 251 Nord in Liège), Laurence Dervaux (artist and lecturer at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts plastiques et visuels de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts in Tournai), Rokko Miyoshi (artist and founder of SB34 in Brussels).
