Women that want to collaborate on the movement and sound archive by Grace Schwindt
What?
This spring, Grace Schwindt (DE, 1979) is working in Kunsthal Gent on her Movement and Sound archive, a project for which she is collaborating with groups of women with a migrant background in several countries. We are still looking for several participants for this project!
Grace Schwindt is looking for women who have experienced forms of violence based on race, gender, sexual orientation or religious conviction, and who are interested to build a ‘movement and sound archive’ with her based on these experiences. No previous training is required.
What are we going to do?
Instead of using words, we will use movements and sounds to share experiences. We will create a ‘library’ of those movements and sounds from which we will then develop a music piece and a simple movement choreography that will be part of my exhibition alongside sculptures at Kunsthal Gent.
How to apply?
- Send us an email (as soon as possible but at the latest 27 March) in which you introduce yourself briefly. We will give you more information and put you in contact with Grace Schwindt.
- 18-22 April: five-day workshop to create the library of movements and sounds.
- 23-27 May: five-day production / rehearsal period to create and rehearse a musical composition and a movement choreography.
- 27 May: one evening performance on the opening night of the exhibition at Kunsthal Gent.
We provide food and drinks and a volunteer fee of €36 per day.
