Join a thematic residency in the city and studio

Oproep
Residentie Werkplaats Walter , Jonge Academie , Stray Light

For the first time since its foundation, non-profit Stray Light organizes a small-scale trajectory  residency, for 3 artists, together with partner Walter Werkt, for a thematic residency in the city. The residency will revolve around “art, sustainability, Anthropocene, climate change”, and is fed  by scientific facts coming from partner The Young Academy.

The Young Academy is an interdisciplinary and inter-university Brussels meeting place of young  researchers and artists with their own perspective on science, society, art and policy. The residency serves to further develop your own practice, which relates to the keywords, based  on those facts. During their residency, the provided scientific facts can be used by the artists  however they wish. At the end of the residency, you will reconnect with scientists to talk about  what you have done and how it can contribute.

We work towards 1) a modest concrete transdisciplinary output on an artistic level that is shown  at the end of the project, 2) documenting research, process, new work and best practices, 3) a  concluding text.

Stray Light is based in the Marolles neighborhood in Brussels city. Walter Werkt is located in the  Cureghem neighborhood in Anderlecht. They have the space and become base of operations.  Because of the theme, the residency takes place in situ, in the city.
