WHAT?
Since this concert season, you can find an overview of concerts with new music in Flanders and Brussels on www.detoonbank.be. De toonbank is a project of MATRIX [Centre for New Music] and was developed together with Flanders Arts Institute. The website contains a concert calendar and in-depth articles, two of which are highlighted weekly on the homepage. The counter leans on the support and input of numerous partner organisations (the list can be found on the website under the ‘about’ button).
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
To make the concert calendar on the counter as complete as possible, we count on the cooperation of everyone who comes into contact with new music from near or far and wants to help make the concerts more visible. Maybe you know of a concert in your area, maybe a new composition of yours will be played, maybe you yourself are playing a show or concert with new music …
HOW?
De toonbank’s calendar works with data entered in www.uitinvlaanderen.be‘s database. Almost all concert organisers enter their events in that database.
- label the concert ‘toonbank’ yourself (you can also label offerings that have already been entered by someone else!),
- or ask an organiser to add the label ‘toonbank’, or
- e-mail klaas@matrix-new-music.be with your question.
At least once a week, we (that means, the team at MATRIX) check which concerts have been tagged. If they fit the profile of de toonbank, we add them to the calendar.
IS THAT ALL?
Of course not! Not only do we want our counter to be well stocked, we also want as many people as possible to come and take a look. So if you’re excited about www.detoonbank.be, feel free to share it on your social media and use the hashtag #detoonbank.
