Performer sought during Playground 24
We are looking for a professional performer for The Familiar Chamber, a 20-minute duet by Reyhan Lál. The performance explores the dynamic between a giant (the performer) and a youth (Reyhan Lál) through a composition of scripted and improvised acts. The script will serve as a starting point, but the performance is highly interactive and non-verbal, focusing on movement and the exchange of energy between the performers. The role requires an engagement with physical expression and responsiveness to each other’s movements. While the script provides structure, there is freedom for improvisation, allowing for spontaneous interactions.
Requirements
- All ages and body types are encouraged to apply.
- Height: 180 cm or taller. (required for the role of the giant in the performance)
- Background in dance / movement is required.
- Basic acrobatics or gymnastics experience is recommended.
- Proficiency in improvisation and partnering is a plus.
- All rehearsals will be conducted in English.
- Participant must reside in Belgium.
- Applicant must be willing to dance on a concrete floor
- Attendance at all rehearsals is mandatory.
Only one performer will be selected after the auditions.
Compensation
The selected performer will receive a total amount of 2.080 euro (vat incl.) for rehearsals and performances during the festival. Payment can be through invoice, an organization or interim contract. There is an additional budget for travel expenses within Belgium and catering during the festival days.
