Take up residency at RADAR Mechelen

OPEN CALL – PERFORMANCE & VISUAL ARTS

Season 2024 – 2025 has officially started at RADAR; the Open Call is online! Are you a creator, artist or collective with ideas for a new artistic project? Could you use some support with that? Do you need both mental and physical space?

What can we offer?

​Ruimte/residenSpace/residencytie

• a studio space for a period of maximum 4 months
• Access to shared workspaces within the RADAR building

Advice and guidance

• a RADAR consultant follows your project from start to finish
• professional feedback on your work
• whenever possible, we organize guidance in groups (stage and visual arts together) so you can inspire yourself and others

Try-outs

• You work towards an exhibition or other opportunity to share your work (expo, performance, lecture, public moment, …).moment (expo, performance, lezing, publiek moment,…) waar je jouw werk deelt met een publiek

Communication

• RADAR and its partners put your project in the spotlight
• professional photos of your work/exhibition that you can later use in your CV or portfolio

Matchmaking

• shared contacts and network
• the right partners for your project
• meet other artists and performers in the building
• take part in community moments at RADAR

​Budget

In addition to the above free support, RADAR also offers:

• expense budget of €400 ( travel expenses, production/material costs, pay for collaboration/external coaching,…)
• presentation fee of €150

Conditions

• you are 18+ (individual or collective)
• you have a link with Mechelen or want to realize your project with partners from Mechelen
• you are at the beginning of a creative process or new creation
• as an artist you are looking for (semi-)professional opportunities
• you commit yourself to work on your project at RADAR during your residency period.

​Selection

Selection is based on:

• meeting the predefined conditions
• the feasibility of your proposal
• the content and relevance of your application
• the added value of a residency and support at RADAR for you as a participant
• an introductory interview to discuss your plans in more detail.
