Experiment with form, space and time at Beyond the Black Box theatre festival

Beyond the Black Box, the festival for art that walks the edges of theatre, performance and visual art, continues from 2 to 5 May in and around Monty and wp Zimmer Antwerp. A festival featuring some 15 performances that communicate with their audience in unexpected ways.

Nothing for you? Don’t know what to think of ‘performance’? Do you stand by it with your mouth full? From now on, you don’t have to be tongue-tied. Take part in the performance watching/criticism workshop during this festival.

Together with other participants, you will visit all performances, you will engage in conversation with audience and artists, learn to give feedback and formulate criticism, all under the guidance of a team of bespectacled viewers/writers put together by Pzazz.theatre. Beyond the Black Box will provide food, coffee, tea, water and a quiet workplace for four days.

The workshop is open to anyone who loves theatre or visual arts and wants to gain more insight into new experiments in on the border between the two. The language of instruction is mainly Dutch, with occasional English.

Only condition: you will be present at the festival and at the workshop activities for four days, from Thursday 2 May to Sunday 5 May (from about 12 noon to about 11 pm, except Sunday until 5 pm).

Participation

To participate, just send a motivation letter of no more than 1 A4 to redactie@pzazz.theater . Preferably before 22 April. Your own texts (reviews, interviews…) can be attached and are a plus. Participation fee: 85 €. Should this amount be a problem, please mention this in your letter.

BtBB is an initiative of Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond, SoAP Maastricht and C-Takt. This festival is a collaboration between Monty, wp Zimmer, C-Takt, 0090, Vincent Company, with support by Pzazz.
