Experiment and show your work at De Dingen

Residency
De Dingen

What?

“Dingen die niet verkopen” is the artist-run initiative of Amber De Saeger and Alec De Bruyn. This exhibition space is located in the city center of Antwerp, and organizes exhibitions, performances and happenings that change theme monthly. We work entirely independent from any kind of government support and are in constant search of a form that takes a distance from the classic function of a gallery – freedom to experiment is key.

As an artist-run initiative we cannot offer a budget for the residence, but we do offer the space and time for an active and open experiment with public showing. Possible income from this showing will go entirely to the resident. We will be approachable for any specific needs and will find the right connections or partnerships with other cultural organizations for support.

What we offer:

  • Working space on ground floor (±17m2) and large cellar (±30m2)
  • Free creation period in September
  • Exhibition/performance/… from September 29th until October 2nd
  • Important: startup and meeting about the residency in the week of August 22nd
  • Personal advice or assistance at the start and ending of residency.

For whom?

In September, we offer our open exhibition space as a space for creation for an artist or collective, who feels at home within the concept of the “Dingen”. During this period the maker has the chance to create or experiment, inspired by and making within the space, ending with a four day exhibition, performance, or celebration of this work. All possible shapes of art are welcome: from visual arts to performance, from sound to literature,…
