Art is innovation par excellence. However, there are still many old practices in the sector that are in urgent need of renovation. Flanders Arts Institute, together with stakeholders and other organisations, searches for ways that lead to greater solidarity, diversity and sustainability in the field. Thus various tools have already been created to build fairer and safer relationships in the arts. Here you’ll find a number of tools to future-proof your art practice.
Art workers deserve fair compensation. At least 50% of the requested subsidies must go to employee compensation. Strive for a transparent and clean wage policy. You’ll find tools and reimbursement calculators that can help you with this on Juist is Juist.

The new Culture Governance Code replaces the Good Governance Guideline of 2012. You can use the Dutch toolbox to implement these new recommendations.
Every employer is responsible for the safety, health and well-being of its employees. In this sense, it’s legally required to take preventive measures to limit psychosocial risks. This is also the case in the cultural sector. Treating each other with respect is the key here.
Are you striving for more integrity within your organisation? With this toolbox you can evaluate where you already stand and get tips and tricks to improve your policy. Policy framework and toolbox (both in Dutch) are an initiative of oKo – the advocacy, employers’ federation and network organisation of professional arts organisations in Flanders and Brussels – and the Performing Arts Social Fund in collaboration with Sensoa. Taking care of your archive is a requirement for receiving operating subsidies. But even if it wasn’t, there are many reasons to take care of your archiving. A good archive helps you work more efficiently, preserves history for the future, prevents loss of knowledge and can be part of your public outreach. Lost track?
